Project 08
This project was undertaken during the Spring 2022 semester under the guidance of Professor Erin Carraher in her Arch 2634 course. Our exploration centered around the Great Salt Lake, with a specific emphasis on the multi-sensory experience inherent in traversing its landscape. The directive was to identify and delve into an experiential theme present on-site, subsequently analyzing how these themes manifest within the broader context of the landscape. Our ultimate task was to conceptualize and design a pavilion rooted in this experiential theme.
The concept of the Koshi Chimes Pavilion revolves around creating a harmonious sensory experience, inspired by both the natural dynamics of the Great Salt Lake and the tranquil elegance of Japanese design philosophy. The pavilion is envisioned as a space that encourages contemplation, fostering a sense of connection between visitors and the
lake’s unique environment.
